Pence Aims to Restore Trump-Era Economic, Foreign Policies

Former Vice President Mike Pence wants to restore Trump-era economic and foreign policies.

His Freedom Agenda focuses on “American opportunity” by restoring the vitality of the U.S. economy through free market principles.

“To restore American freedom, the free market must be unleashed from the shackles of high taxes, over regulation and Big Government socialism,” Pence said during his speech Tuesday.

Pence said America needs the same economic polices that were in place under the Trump-Pence administration.

With high inflation and the coming recession, Pence said “we need to go back to what we know works.”

“Freedom works,” he said.

He called for the extension of Trump’s tax cuts, elimination of special interest tax breaks and low tax rates for “working Americans.”

Pence also called for reciprocal trade deals “that put America and American workers first,” the unleashing of American energy to lower gas prices at the pump and to “roll back the regulatory state.”

He also made a renewed commitment to fiscal discipline and called for the federal budget to be balanced in the next five years.

Strong American leadership is another hallmark of Pence’s Freedom Agenda.

“American freedom means peace at home and stability abroad,” he said.

Pence called for a strong national defense and the promotion of freedom with U.S. allies.

“Only a strong America can lead,” he said.

Pence said the Biden administration has hampered the Trump administration’s efforts to rebuild the military.

He blasted Biden for “flatlining” investments in national defense and the “disastrous” U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan.

Pence called for a more robust defense budget, expansion for Space Force and “ending social experiments” in the military that began under the Obama administration and continued under President Biden.

“We have to end the woke culture in the military,” Pence said.

He also called for more support for military servicemembers, saying America should treat them “like our own family.”

On an international scale, Pence said the goal should be to “ensure American dominance” on land, sea, air and space.

He said “weakness arouses evil” and noted that the Trump-Pence administration was the only administration in the 20th century when Russia “did not seek to redraw international lines by force.”

He said Russian President Vladimir Putin only understands strength and his “grandiose ambitions must be met with American strength.” Pence shared that he told Putin ” things he didn’t want to hear” when he was in the White House.

Pence said the U.S. should continue to support Ukraine, stand with its allies in South and Central America, renew commitments to Israel and counter Iranian aggression through isolation and pressure.

He said the U.S. should “put a stake in the heart of the Iran nuclear deal once and for all.”
